Speed is the wrong question, and it is the only one anybody advertises.
How old is the quote, measured from the book? Not from when the feed reached the screen. On a feed running 5.4 seconds behind, a quote displayed as 10 seconds old is really 15.4 — and measuring from receipt understates age by exactly the lag, which overstates the chance of getting on.
Does it say which devig produced the number? The same market reads 57.11% to 57.50% depending on method. A screen printing one figure to two decimals is showing you a modelling choice.
Does it hold books out of their own fair value? A soft book that contributes to the consensus pulls it toward its own price, shrinking exactly the edge being detected — hardest on the markets where that book is the lone outlier and the edge is largest.
