Where should you spend a 50% profit boost?
A boost multiplies profit. Profit grows with the price. So spending a 50% boost on a favourite gives almost all of it away.
The same 50% boost on a 100 dollar stake:

25.00 at the short price against 250.00 at the long one — 10x the value from the identical token. "Use it on something safe" is the most expensive habit in promotional betting.
Why books hand them out anyway
A boost is cheap to give and it moves behaviour. It pulls people toward bigger stakes and longer prices than they would otherwise take, and the account that suddenly bets its boost at +500 is an account whose ordinary staking now has a very visible exception in it.
Which is the part nobody costs in: a boost spent optimally is also a boost spent conspicuously.
